HOT HOT HOT - Saturday June 13th!

The Y is going to get STEAMY on Saturday, June 13th from 8:30-11:30AM. Join us for HOT HOT HOT Group Exercise event showcasing several of our scorching classes including: Burnin’ Muscle Pump, Sizzlin Zumba, Jungle Drums, Steam Rollers – (foam roller stretching), Boot Camp Burn, Sassy Qigong, & Hip Hop Hot! T-shirts are for sale at the Welcome Center for $10 to promote the event and then they are $12 at the event. This event is FREE for both members and non-members. Y BOOT CAMP - Starting June 15th!

Join us every Monday, Wednesday, Friday 6:00am-7:15am for a Boot Camp workout! Classes will include: plyometrics, sports drills, strength work, Pilates, Yoga, interval training; and inside/outside workouts. Boot Camp will also include:  Pre and Post Fitness evaluation, Boot Camp T-shirt, Journal, and Group Nutritional Consult by our registered Dietician, Jen Brewer.  Boot Camp starts Monday, June 15th and goes for 6 weeks. Y CLOGGING - Starting June 10th!

Clogging is one of America's oldest Folk Dances. The focus is on fun footwork and choreography. The intricite steps of the dance combine shuffles, kicks, and stomps with a rapid fire double toe to create a high energy and spirited dance. Two six week sessions will be offered at the Y. Clogging I for Beginners will run June 10th-July 15th. Clogging II for Mixed Levels will run July 22nd-August 26th. Cost is $25/members and $35/non-members. Click here to register online.

Are you looking for a great way to get fit? Do you like working out with friends? Try the Y’s Group Fitness Classes! The Y offers a variety of group classes and all are taught by trained, CPR certified instructors who will motivate and encourage you during your workout! Group fitness classes are open to individuals 13 years of age or older. It is recommended that one seek a physician's approval before starting a new fitness program. Our classes include a range of Dance, Cardio, Strength, Flexibility, Water Aerobics, and Active Older Adult Workouts. Click here for Group Exercise Schedule.

 

Fitness Center

 

 

Our Fitness Center includes: a wide variety of cardiovascular and strength training equipment to help you meet your personal fitness goals. Amenities include 5 TVs, free towel-service, and a refrigerator to store your protein shakes. The Y purchased new equipment in 2009, inclusive of a wide-range of new cardio equipment, FreeMotion equipment (which is also handicap accessible), and new weight benches. Members can enjoy a Free Four Week Quick Start to kick start their workout regimine with our personal training staff.

Jen Brewer, licensed dietician, is now offering Nutritional assessments, counseling, presentations, etc. Jen is available to both members and non-members. Contact Jen for more information.

Massage

Relax and unwind with a massage by our certified massage therapist at the Y! We have brought back this program due to high demand. Deb Cannon, also group fitness instructor, completed her training at the Sister Rosalind Gefre School of Professional Massage and has set up practice at the Y. She specializes in reflexology, pre-natal, deep tissue, sports, and senior massage. Deb can accommodate both chair and table massage! Deb offers massages for both members and non-members.

PersonalTraining


 

 

 

Our personal trainers are nationally certified or have completed a degree from a recognized university in the fields of Exercise and Sport Science or Kinesiology. If you are just beginning an exercise program or need one-on-one attention, or if are experienced and need structure & motivation, the trainers can help you set realistic goals. The trainers also teach the use of cardiovascular and resistance training equipment, show you new exercises to add variety to your workout, help you with injury prevention, and much more.

If you are purchasing the set of five or ten training sessions, you will also receive a fitness assessment to help you chart your progress. Personal training sessions can be accomplished in half-hour or hour sessions.


Group Personal Training
For those people who would like to have personal training done in a small group atmosphere, we do offer group personal training. We ask you to provide one to two other individuals that will work together in attaining your physical fitness goals!


Fitness Assessments
A fitness assessment can give you a starting point for areas to focus on or help you assess your current workout. You will meet with one of our highly trained fitness staff one on one and your assessment will include: Blood pressure, Resting heart rate, Body composition, Cardiovascular fitness, Muscular strength and endurance, Cardio respiratory endurance & flexibility.

Racquetball

The Y offers clinics, leagues, and competitive blood play. Contact Kelly Kirk at the Y or check out the Racquetball information board on the Y's third floor.

 

 

Karate Training for Adults
Our Instructors teach self-defense and mental discipline through a classical style of Karate developed on the island of Okinawa. Our instructors hold black belt certificates in the Ryukyu Kempo style of Okinawa karate. Adults will learn the basic techniques of blocking, punching, kicking and efficient forms of self-defense. Advanced students will learn the weapon arts (Kobudo) of Okinawa. We place equal emphasis on the development of character and strive for the physical and spiritual development of adult
students in a non-competitive atmosphere. • The Y pays an annual membership fee to the International Ryukyu Kempo Association for each Intermediate and Advanced student. Contact the Welcome Center for more details: 287-2260 ext. 354



Teen & Adult Kendo Japanese Fencing

Kendo will help you develop self discipline, self control, self confidence, and concentration. A great way to become physically fit and learn more about a Japanese art. This activity will introduce people by using bamboo swords and other Japanese equipment. Click here to register!
