How do I bid?

Select the item, enter your username, password, and bid then push the 'Place Bid' button.

How do I increase my bid?

Follow the same procedures as you did to place your original bid.

How will I know if I am no longer the highest bidder?

You will automatically be notified by email. Each bidder is responsible for keeping track of their own bidding history. We suggest that if you place a bid, you print your confirmation page. We also suggest that you check the site regularly to see how your bids are doing and to increase your bids when necessary!

How will I know if I win?

When the auction closes an email will be sent if you have placed the highest bid on an item.

Is my bid donation tax deductible?

Your bid donation is only tax deductible for the amount you pay over the value.

What if I want to cancel my bid after placing it?

All bids on the Y Auction site are final and binding. For this reason, we recommend that you review your bid closely before finalizing it by clicking the "Place Bid" button.

Why can't I lower the dollar amount in "Your Bid"?

Each item has a minimum amount that the bid may be increased by.

Why are items deleted or changed?

Rochester Area Family Y reserves the right to remove items or update items as we see fit.

How do I register?

Select Register from the home page. Complete all the fields.

When you bid your username will be posted, therefore, you may not want to use something that easily identifies you.

What if I do not receive my password?

If you do not receive your password shortly, your Internet provider may be blocking email from the Y Auction site to you. Please check your "junk mail" or "bulk mail" folder to see if it ended up there.

How do I change my password, or address?

Select Change Registration.

How do I change my email address?

You cannot change your email address without re-registering.

Who is eligible for the prize drawing?

All registered bidders (who must be age 18 and above) are eligible for prize drawings. One does not have to place a bid on any item, nor does one need to be a winning bidder on any item to be eligible. Employees of the Rochester Area Family Y and volunteers for the Y Auction are not eligible for the prize drawing.

When will the prize drawing be done?

The drawing will take place on November 15. The winners of the drawing will be notified by email and arrangements will be made for the winners to pick up their prizes.

When can I start bidding?

Bidding is open to the public on November 1.

When does bidding end?

Bidding close date and time are listed on each individual item. The bid item will list the current time and closing time. The closing time is "computer time".

What forms of payment does the Rochester Area Family Y accept?

The Rochester Area Family Y accepts cash, check, money order and Master Card, Visa and American Express credit cards.

How will I receive my items?

When the auction closes an email will be sent if you have placed the highest bid on an item. The email you receive will include item pick up instructions.

If my items have to be shipped to me, do I pay shipping charges?

Yes. Bidders are responsible for paying all shipping charges.

The information gathered at Registration is used solely for the purposes of the Rochester Area Family Y. This information is used to distinguish one bidder from another, to facilitate online auction processes, to notify winning bidders, and to inform bidders about the Rochester Area Family Y.

Who has access to my registration information?

The Rochester Area Family Y is committed to safeguarding your privacy online. Therefore, we will not disclose any of your registration information to outside third parties except in extreme circumstances such as inappropriate or illegal usage of the Rochester Area Family Y web site and such.
